MEET THE PRODUCERS

Black Chalk

After 8 years making over 120 different English sparkling wines in Hampshire, Black Chalk is the personal project of award winning winemaker Jacob Leadley and his family. This relative newcomer – the debut 2015 vintage was only released in 2018 – has rapidly established itself among the firmament of English sparkling wine.

Jacob and fellow winemaker Zoë Driver are overseeing the creation of a new winery in the heart of Hampshire’s Test Valley, surrounded by a collection of exceptional vineyards. Black Chalk is the epitome of an English “récoltant-manipulant”, the superior craftsmanship evident in the wines indelibly connected to their intuitive stewardship of the stunning chalk-rich landscape. Quality without compromise; creating wines that really showcase what Hampshire can do so well.
